Home Travel News | THE BRITS ARE COMING !!!

Increasing numbers of Brits are expected to travel on flights to Nepal next year thanks to the country's Tourism Year.

This is according to the nation's tourism board, whose Nepal Tourism Year is expected to attract one million international visitors to the south Asian country, a figure that would represent a significant increase from the 400,000 recorded in 2009.

Nepal Tourism Board spokesman Laxman Gautam said that Nepal is traditionally known among tourists for the Himalayas and its mountain trekking.

"It is equally known to the world that Nepal is the birth place of Lord Buddha and is a treasure house of vibrant cultures and festivals," he commented.

Mr Gautam went on to say that the country is expecting "an unprecedented rise" in the number tourist arrivals from the UK over the course of 2011.

According to the country's tourist board, 24.3 percent more travellers visited Nepal in August compared to the same month last year.
